. A VISIT TO A CIRCUS
1. Introduction. 2. Description of the show. 3. My impressions.4. Conclusion.
1. I am very fond of visiting circus shows. Whenever a circus party comes to our town, I get excited. Recently the Gemini Circus visited our town. It created a good deal of stir in the town. One evening I decided to visit the circus show with my friends. When we reached the place, we saw a huge crowd at the booking windows. Somehow we managed to get tickets. When we occupied our seats, we took a sigh of relief.
2. The show started with the rope-dance. A girl walked and danced on the ropes. Everybody was struck with wonder. I held my breath when I thought that she would fall down, but she maintained her balance (g) admirably. Then some feats of gymnastics were shown by some girls at the height of forty feet. There were some small rods hanging from the top. They would. catch hold of a rod and swing to the other end. The next item was very thrilling. When a young man began to drive a motor-cycle struck dumb with wonder. Another interesting performance was cycling on steel wires. Then a healthy woman appeared. She lay on her back. A piece of wood was placed on her body. Then a huge elephant was asked to stand on the piece of wood for a few seconds. I was afraid that the woman must be crushed to death. but she was not injured at all. The most thrilling feats were performed by the animals. Some elephants and horses appeared with their trainers. They began to dance together. Their dance thrilled the spectators. When the elephants played football, we wondered at their intelligence and skill (कौशल).
At last the tigers and the lions were brought. When the doors of their cages ( fs) were opened, we trembled () with fear. Their trainers played with them for twenty minutes. Then some goats were brought near the tigers. The tigers treated them as if they were their friends.
3. I enjoyed the circus show. I wondered at the skill of the perfomers. I shall remember the show for long.
4. A circus show is very useful. It amuses us. It shows that the wild animals may be tamed and trained. It proves that man is the wisest animal on the earth.
