1. I live in village Rampur in the district of Darbhanga. It is a big village consisting of about 200 families.
2. My village is self-contained (). Its inhabitants do not have to go to towns for their daily requirements ( Besides shops of grains, groceries (fa), cloth and ornaments (T), it has also got blacksmiths (R), carpenters (a), cobblers (R), weavers, and also a vaidya and a doctor. The weavers of Rampur are well-known. They do brisk (1) trade in handloom () cloths.
3. Generally speaking, the people of my village are not quarrel some . They do not indulge in litigation (heart). They settle their disputes (1) among themselves through a panchayat. They are also very healthy. Therefore, very little of their money goes to doctors and lawyers.
4. There are four primary schools, one high school, and a public library in the village. The library has been opened by the young men of the village. Its expenses are met from a fund () raised by subscription (). There is also a society named Bal Krira Samaj. Under its auspices the young boys of the village meet and play kabaddi and other games. They also discuss important topics (fa) of the day.
5. The village has got low lands which are very good for paddy crop. The land is very fertile (345). Unless there is complete drought (), the yield (34) is always good. This is why the people are so rich and happy.
6. The roads of the village are not in good condition. There is only one pucca road. That also is not maintained properly . For this the District Board is responsible.
7. In this village, fairs are held on the occasion () of Durga Puja and Shivaratri every year. There are temples of Shiva and Durga where these fairs are held. On the occasion of fairs, shopkeepers come from far-off towns, set up stalls and earn much money. Various show parties, e.g., cinemas, circus parties, jugglers (a) etc. attract a large number of people to the fair. These occasions provide much joy and happiness to the young and the old alike.
8. The sanitation () of the village is good. Its inhabitants (निवासी) know the value of cleanliness (4). They do not accumulate () rubbish (-a) near their houses. They get pure water from the river Baghmati. There is need of a good hospital in my village.
